Confirmed: South African sides join new Guinness Pro14. Celtic Rugby and the South African Rugby Union have today confirmed that the Toyota Cheetahs and the Southern Kings will join an expanded Guinness PRO14 tournament in time for the upcoming 2017/18 season. A long-term strategic agreement has been signed by both parties which will allow the participation of two South African franchises in the renamed Guinness PRO14 Championship. Defender Shaun Kelly and midfielder Paul O’Conor are the latest players to leave Limerick, they follow the departures of Chris Mulhall, Ian Turner and Robbie Williams. Castleconnell BC’s James Quinlan wins rowing gold in Belgium. The Castletroy College student was an intrgral cog in the Rowing Ireland team that won the A Junior Gold Medal at the prestigious Coupe de la Jeunesse. The European Junior Rowing competition took place in Hazewinkel in Belgium over the past weekend. The team was made up of Quinlan from Castleconnell BC also included Matt Dundon from Clonmel RC, Carlow RC’s Jack Keating and Cork BC’s Barry O’ Flynn.
