Andrew Conway likely to see suspension after red card on Friday

Conway was sent off in Munster’s loss to Connacht last Friday night

Things don’t look to good for Munster’s Andrew Conway at the minute, after being shown a straight red card in his side’s 20-16 loss to Connacht on Friday last.

The Munster winger, who has recently been included in Joe Schmidt’s 38 man squad for their upcoming Autumn Internationals, caught Connacht out half Jack Carty late when chasing down his own kick and after Carty put up a Garryowen.

A Guinness Pro 14 disciplinary committee is set to meet today to decide the severity, if any, of Conway’s ban, with the outcome not looking goos due to the fact it was a straight red card.

Nigel Owens penalised the utility back under las 10.4 “late charging kicker” and under that law could be banned from anywhere between two and ten weeks.

On live action and slow motion replay, it’s clear he does make contact with Carty, who then goes down injured after the collision.

When speaking to Conway before he sends him off, Nigel Owens states the fact that it is the chaser’s duty to look after kicker and the Munster man didn’t so which further makes for grim reading for Ireland fans as it suggest’s he could receive a lengthy ban.
