Glenstal Abbey reach the Munster Schools Senior Cup Final

The Limerick school are back in the Final for the second year in a row

Glenstal Abbey are back in the Clayton Hotels Munster Schools Senior Cup final after a comprehensive 30-10 win over Crescent College Comprehensive at the Markets field on Monday afternoon.

In an exciting opening half at the Markets field it was Glenstal who led at half time 20-7.

The opening score of the game was by fly-half and man of the match Ben Healy after only three minutes from a penalty.

A few minutes later and Glenstal had their first try of the match from Ronan Quinn which was then converted by Healy to make the score 10-0.

Crescent College soon got into the game from a try by Jack Madden which was then converted by John Hurley.

Glenstal then got an intercept try through Andrew Hogan just before the break. Healy converted once again to give his side a thirteen point lead on the 40 minute mark.

Crescent did there best to get back in the second half with a penalty from Hurley on the sixty minute mark but it was Glenstal who finished out the game the better side with a try coming from Mark Fleming. Healy converted but also got a brilliant drop goal just before the end of the game.

Glenstal will now have to wait and see who they will play in the final. PBC and CBC will meet this Thursday (March 10th) in the other semi-final at Irish Independent Park. Kick off is at 5pm.

The Final will be played on Sunday March 18th. Time and venue TBC.
