Janesboro crowned Champions Cup winners & Aisling advance in FAI Youth Cup

It was a positive weekend for Limerick junior soccer as PJ Matthews Premier Division leaders Janesboro were crowned Champions Cup winners with a 2-1 victory over St. Michaels at Jackman Park on Saturday night. It was particularly impressive as Janesboro had to fight back from 0-1 down to earn the win.

Club legend Shane Clarke produced a great strike from a free-kick to equalise and strike partner Keith Mawdsley struck the winner in extra-time to spark the celebrations.

In further good news, Aisling Annacotty advanced in the FAI Youth Cup after defeating Claremorris 3-2 on Sunday afternoon. Annacotty were 3-0 ahead but had to withstand a late fightback to make it through.

The Limerick District League season is taking a break for the Christmas period and will resume on Sunday the 7th of January with a full fixture list in the premier league and the first round of the Munster Logistics Lawson Cup takes place with all games kicking off at 11am.
