Johann van Graan emerges as new top name to succeed Erasmus at Munster

Another day, another man set to become Munster’s Director of Rugby. Today, the Irish Times are reporting that Springbok assistant coach Johann van Graan is to succeed Rassie Erasmus as the Director of Rugby.

The report comes only hours after David Wessels – who was previously tipped for the post – opted to take over at the Melbourne Rebels in next year’s Super Rugby competition.

Although van Graan has no experience as a head coach, but he was part of the Springboks side that reached the World Cup semi-final in 2015 and has also worked as a video analyst for the Blue Bulls.

The report claims that van Graan will leave his role with the Springboks at the end of the Rugby Championship to take the Munster post and will work alongside Erasmus until the end of 2017.
