Listen: Limerick FC midfielder speaks to the press in the aftermath of victory over Bray Wanderers

Limerick FC midfielder Barry Maguire spoke to the club’s official website in the aftermath of the crucial 2-1 victory over Bray Wanderers at the Markets Field on Friday night. He scored the winner to send Limerick 9 points clear of their opponents.

The former FC Utrecht player has scored three goals in his last four matches for the club following a tough start to his career on Shannonside. Following his goal in the victory over Waterford United, he was ruled out for a month due to a hamstring injury.

Furthermore, upon arriving at the club, Maguire was a long way from fully fit due to a catalogue of injury setbacks in the last few seasons. However, it now looks as if the cultured midfielder is now beginning to settle which is good news for both parties.

During recent financial problems at the club, Maguire was unaffected by the recent player departures as it is widely reported that the former Dutch underage international is one of the lower earners as he is desperate to prove himself once more.

Speaking about his vital contribution on Friday night, Maguire was delighted to get the winner. “Yeah. It was an important goal and a little bit lucky. We should have got at least one more. At least I got one goal again so I’m very happy.”
