Racing 92 confirmed as destination for Munster’s departing Simon Zebo just days out from European clash

Racing 92 confirmed as destination for departing Simon Zebo.

In the lead up to the Champions Cup pool 4 clash between the sides, Racing 92 have confirmed that Munster and Ireland fullback Simon Zebo will be joining the club next season.

Zebo will join former Munster teammate Donnacha Ryan at the Top 14 side when he links up with the squad in the summer.

Munster had confirmed that the Cork man would be leaving the province back in October, with Racing always the most likely destination.

Zebo spoke to Racing 92 for an interview that was released on the club’s official website, he spoke about the move and Munster’s trip to the U Arena this weekend.

“It was difficult at first but I think they understand and accept my decision.

“The decision was very difficult to make, I have a great connection with them, with everyone at the club but it was the right moment.”

“Of course it’s going to be a very, very big game,” Zebo said, when asked about Sunday’s pool 4 clash.

“It’s a difficult match for both teams but especially for the Munster. We will have to do the maximum, give everything we have and not make mistakes if we want to make a result. Racing is one of the best teams in Europe but hey, Munster are too.”

While the flying fullback has also revealed that he plans on visiting the area at the end of the month to look at where he and his family will settle once the move is made.

“Probably late January for a few days, just to visit Meudon, Sceaux, Le Plessis and the surrounding area. I will have to find a house for my family and a kindergarten for my son.”
