Reports suggest Munster have found Rassie Erasmus’ replacement

Dave Wessels looks set to sign for the province after positive talks.

The Irish Independent is today reporting that South African Dave Wessels is close to agreeing a deal to become Rassie Erasmus’ successor.

Munster’s current director of rugby would know Wessel’s well having given him his first role in management when he was appointed as the Stormers consultant analyst almost nine years ago.

Wessel’s coached Perth’s Western Force this season but is currently out of a job seeing as the franchise was cut from Super Rugby, similar to the Pro 14 new boys, the Cheetahs and the Southern Kings, due to it’s downgrading efforts.

Munster faced competition in acquiring the South African’s signature from another Australian Super Rugby franchise in the form of the Melbourne rebels but it seems as if the 35 year old will soon be joining the province with other reports claiming that Munster flew Wessel’s to Ireland to finalise the contract.
