Round Robin permutations as Limerick face Waterford

Well one thing is for sure, the Round Robin format is certainly keeping us guessing and with nothing to separate Limerick and Cork or Tipperary and Waterford at the weekend, everyone is still alive heading to week week 4.

Limerick and Cork are going well, Clare are still well in the hunt while Tipperary and Waterford are running out of road. Remarkably, all five can still make the Munster final and all Ireland series.

The remaining fixtures are as follows:

Sunday June 10

Limerick v Waterford, Gaelic Grounds, 2pm.
Tipperary v Clare, Semple Stadium, 2pm.

Sunday June 17

Clare v Limerick, Cusack Park, 2pm.
Waterford v Cork, Semple Stadium, 2pm.

So what does each county need to do in order to progress?

Limerick

If John Kiely’s side win either of their remaining games they will be through. Two draws will also be enough. A single point would also be enough should Tipperary beat Clare on June 10th in Thurles.

Cork

John Meyler’s side could still advance with 4 points even if the fail to pick up any more in round 5. A draw or win against Waterford will be enough. If Cork fail to pick up any more points, Tipperary could catch them if they were to win their last game against Clare and overturn an 11 point scoring difference.

Tipperary

Michael Ryan’s men are still very much alive and kicking but their backs are very much against the wall. The have produced only two goof halves of hurling from a possible six coming back from the dead against Cork (9 points) and Waterford (12 points). If Tipperary beat Clare next Sunday, and Limerick/Cork beat Waterford, then Tipperary will be through. If Tipp lose or draw they are gone while if Waterford win their last two games then Waterford will qualify ahead of the premier county.

Clare

If the Banner win both of their remaining games they will be through. A win and a draw will also suffice. Should they suffer defeat to Tipperary at the weekend and beat Limerick in the last round then they would need Waterford to lose or draw with Cork. If the beat Tipp and lose to Limerick then again they would need  Waterford to lose/draw with Cork.

Waterford

Waterford still have qualification in their own hands. If they win their last two games, they go through.  A draw with Limerick and a victory over Cork will also be enough. If Clare beat Tipperary, Waterford will need to win the last two to progress. If they beat Limerick and draw with Cork scoring difference will com into play.
