UL Bohemian and Thomond in playoff semi-final action

Two Limerick sides face into massive AIL playoff ties on Saturday with one aiming for progression and the other hoping to avoid relegation, both games kick off at 2.30 on Saturday.

In Division 1B, UL-Bohemian are in relegation semi-final playoff against Nenagh Ormond at the 4G pitch in UL.

Christy Neilan’s side were resigned to the playoffs following a 9th place finish in the division, although they did almost secure their safety in the last week of the regular season against Banbridge.

The red robins suffered an agonizing 32-30 defeat on the day.

Nenagh are a club going in the right direction and the Sporting Limerick Charity Cup champions will pose a big threat to the Limerick side, having already beaten them in the early stages of that competition.

Highfield and City of Armagh are the other two sides battling it out in the 1B/2A relegation/promotion last 4.

Thomond will have another crack at gaining promotion following disappointment last weekend when they suffered defeat to Sligo in what was essentially an automatic promotion playoff.

The soda cakes must travel to Omagh this weekend for their promotion semi-final clash at Mellon Park.

If James Hickey’s side can manage a win, they would face a final tie with either Belfast Harlequins or Malahide.
