Former Limerick FC player Paudie O’Connor avoids punch as Leeds U23 friendly is abandoned.
A friendly between Leeds United’s U23s and Rhyl FC had to be abandoned on Tuesday night due to a brawl that broke out between the sides.
Leeds coach Carlos Corberan is reported to have removed his side from the field after the fight broke out off the ball during the second half of the game.
The Spaniard has since stated that he is proud of the way his side handled the incident.

Limerick native Paudie O’Connor, who captained the side had reportedly stepped in to protect a teammate, can be seen dodging a punch from Rhyl FC’s number 4, Tony Davies.

The Welsh football club have since released this statement on the matter.
Following the abandonment of the Friendly match between Rhyl FC and a Leeds United XI this evening (21st November) the club will now launch an internal investigation into the incidents which resulted in the match being halted during the second half.
The Club will issue no further statement until the completion of this work.
While the former Limerick FC centre half has received some praise for avoiding a blow from Davies.
