Every time starts out the year dreaming of playing in Croke Park in the All Ireland final. Yet, some teams will realise that this goal may be out of their reach. Even the most optimistic of Limerick fans would have doubted that their side would be lining out on Croke Park on the biggest day in the hurling calendar. Limerick manager John Kiely has come out and said that the final was always in the plans for his young side.
“You’ve a plan overall. Everything will be planned out for the full year right to the end of the day so that when you do move from one step to the next the plan is there for you to pick up and go with.”
“It’s there. It has to be there. If you’re going to start out the year and leave out that, we haven’t much business starting.”
Limerick come into the final as underdogs against a Galway side that have looked irresistible at times during their quest to retain the All Ireland title. But, the men from the West have looked vulnerable at times this year and Limerick will certainly fancy their chances against the Tribesmen. Yet, John Kiely has commended the Galway side and outlined them as the favourites.
“At the moment, they are the standard bearers.”
