HIGHLIGHTS | Limerick see off Fermanagh to book promotion to second tier

Limerick secured their place in Division 2 of the National Football League next year.

A second promotion in two years was sealed by Billy Lee’s Limerick at the weekend as they beat Fermanagh 1-16 to 0-14 in the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

Josh Ryan had the games only goal, finishing a well worked move involving Cillian Fahy and Hugh Bourke that had Limerick 1-8 to 0-8 to the good at the break.

Fermanagh were 0-3 to 0-1 ahead early in the half but that was as good as it got for the Ulster side as Limerick kicked five in a row and maintaining the lead to the final whistle.

Fermanagh did get within one shortly after the restart but efforts from Ryan and Bourke kept their opponents at bay as Limerick held on for a historic win

Watch the highlights from the game below.

Limerick now meet Louth in the National Football League final on Saturday at 4.45pm in Croke Park.
