Young Munster claim Limerick bragging rights as UL Bohs fall in Women’s AIL semi-final | AIL Round Up

It was a mixed weekend for the Limerick sides in the AIL with Young Munster earning the bragging rights in the local derby in Thomond Park.

It was a disappointing weekend for UL Bohemians as they suffered a narrow defeat to Blackrock College in the semi-final of the Women’s All Ireland League. Blackrock defeated the Limerick sides 13-8 in the semi-final at Stradbrook in a very tight match. The sides were scoreless at halftime with Nicole Cronin scoring UL Bohs’ try.

Elsewhere, Young Munster kept their hopes of a play-off place in Division 1A of the All Ireland League alive with a 32-3 win over Shannon at Thomond Park.

Garryowen remain rooted to the foot of the table after their 28-10 defeat at Dooradoyle. A try by Michael Veale and a conversion and penalty by Jack Delaney saw the home side trail 14-10 at halftime.

Old Crescent continued their move away from the relegation zone in 2A with a 32-14 home win over Ballymena. Owen Murphy, Ruadhan Quinn, Cathal O’Reilly, and Jack O’Mahony scored tries for Crescent. Ronan McKenna kicked three conversions and two penalties.

Both Dolphin and UL Bohemian occupy the last two places in this Division after suffering away defeats. MU Barnhall defeated Dolphin 34-19 and UL Bohemian lost 15-0 away to Navan.

Clonmel have moved into fourth place in Division 2C, following their 30-28 away win at Bruff. Albert Fronek, Andrew Daly, Luke Hogan, and Matthew Hynes scored tries for Clonmel. Dylan Cadogan kicked two conversions and two penalties. Mark O’Connell, Cillian Rea, and Pa Maher replied with tries for Bruff, who were also awarded a penalty try. Paul Collins kicked three conversions.
