Limerick’s Roisin Upton may get a chance to play on the biggest stage following the Ireland women’s hockey team’s qualification for the 2018 World Cup.
It is the first time since 2002 that the team have qualified for the competition, which takes place in London this summer.
Already-qualified Australia helped Ireland’s cause by recording a 23-0 win over Papua New Guinea in the Oceania Cup today, as the girls in green were next in line for a place, after they finished seventh in last July’s World League Tournament.
