Listen – Ollie Moran can’t see anyone beating Na Piarsaigh this year

Two-time all-star winner Ollie Moran is backing Na Piarsaigh to be crowned Munster Club champions this Sunday.

Moran admits that Shane Dowling is a major loss to the Caherdavin side but thinks that the city side still have more than enough to get over the line against Ballygunner in Thurles.

“I think Na Piarsaigh should be too strong. Shane Dowling is a massive loss, you can’t underestimate his loss to Na Piarsaigh, he’s been excellent for them all year. Ronan Lynch was excellent on the frees last time out, but it will be a different proposition this Sunday.”

The last time the two sides met was in the 2015 decider and it was the Limerick champions that came out on top against their Waterford counterparts on a 2-18 to 2-11 score line.

“They’re coming up against a Ballygunner team that are in a very good vein of form. They’ll feel that they were missing key players two years ago, so they’ll look for a bit of atonement.”

Shane O’Neill’s side eased passed Blackrock in the semi-final, running out 22-point winners over the Cork outfit, to reach their fourth Munster Club SHC final since 2011 and are strong favourites to claim the Thurles decider.

“They’re well versed in how to play these games and they’ve a very good management team in place. It’s going to take a huge performance from Ballygunner to overtake them. Na Piarsaigh are only getting better as the year goes on, I find it very hard to see anything other than a Na Piarsaigh victory on Sunday.”
