Gaelic football legends don’t come any bigger than Mick O’Dwyer. As a player, the Waterville native won 4 All Ireland medals, 11 Munster medals and 7 National League medals.
Retiring in 1974, O’Dwyer was made Kerry manager in 1975 and spent twelve years at the helm. During his tenure with the Kingdom, Kerry played in ten All Ireland Finals winning 8 as well as adding 11 provincial and 3 league titles to his list of glittering achievements.
Let that sink in for a minute, as a player / manager of his native county he was involved in 12 All Ireland winning sides, 10 national league winning sides and 22 provincial winning teams. All that plus Leinster titles with Kildare (2) and Laois (1).
