UL travel to Ulster for Sigerson Cup Quarter Final

UL travel to Belfast to take on Ulster University Jordanstown today looking to reach a third successive Sigerson Cup semi final. The Brian Carson managed outfit will enter the game as underdogs after UUJ knocked out the defending champions St Marys University in the opening round.

UL had too much for CIT in the last round running out comfortable 2-13 to 1-11 winners on the UL Grounds last Tuesday. Limerick men Gearoid Hegarty, James Naughton and Eoghan O’Connor were all impressive for the college last week and will need to be at the top of their game again tomorrow.

Pearse Lillis will also be key for his side, putting in a dominant display at centre back against CIT, as will his county compatriot Keelan Sexton who popped up with a brace of points in the opening round. Kerry’s Dennis Daly has great experience at this level and was part of the previous two UL sides to reach the last 4.

As for UUJ, they were highly impressive in their 0-17 to 1-9 victory over St Marys. Tyrone pair Lee Brennan and Mark Bradley lead the scoring charge for UUJ, notching 0-8 between them. Donegal’s Eoin McHugh also features on the team as does Monaghan man Ryan MacAnespie who bagged two points in the previous round.

The game throws in tomorrow at 2pm in Jordanstown with a place in the last four up for grabs.
