Munster Junior Cup takes centre stage as three Limerick Junior clubs look to progress

The Munster Junior Cup fifth round takes place this Sunday afternoon with three Limerick sides in action. All three games kick-off at 2pm with Murroe facing the toughest challenge on paper as the 1A side take on the mighty St. Michaels in Tipperary. Janesboro host Pearse Celtic at the aptly named Pearse Stadium and Pike Rovers face Sporting Ennistymon, a clare outfit who Geraldines easily defeated on their way to the final in 2014. It would be a superb two weeks for Pike should they emerge victorious after last weekend’s FAI Cup success against Dungarvan.

The Munster Logistics Lawson Cup second round begins on Sunday as the premier league sides enter the competition. All Lawson Cup games take place at 11am on Sunday morning. As a result, there are no games fixed for the PJ Matthews Premier League. Regional United face Caherdavin in Dooradoyle. Ballynanty Rovers will be putting all their energy into the last realistic hope of silverware as they entertain Newport at Shelbourne Park. Moyross play host to 1B side Croom United and Aisling Annacotty take on 3A side Abbey Rovers on the astroturf. Other fixtures include a tricky tie for Kilmallock as they travel to 1B promotion candidates Atlunkard Villa and Carew Park host Glenview. On paper, all premier sides should advance to the third round but there are always some close encounters at this stage of the competition.

The Open Cup also takes place this Sunday morning with two games down for decision. There is a local derby on Hyde Road as Hyde Rangers B take on close neighbours Weston Villa. Furthermore, Knockainey play Cappamore at home. Both games have a 2pm kick-off time.

In the Inter-League Youth Cup, Limerick District League travel to Galway to take on the Galway District League side. On Wednesday February 14th, Carew Park and Aisling Annacotty contest the Tuohy Cup semi-final at Jackman Park with a 7pm kick-off. Both sides will be hoping to reach the final where Charleville await the winners. Annacotty will be hoping to retain the trophy.
