WATCH: Adrian Breen “Focus on your own game, get inside a clear mind space and deliver from there.”

Na Piarsaigh go in search of a second All Ireland success in three years this St Patrick’s day against reigning champions Cuala in Croke Park. Last time out Na Piarsaigh overcame a stubborn Slaughtneil side despite being reduced to 13-men early in the second period.

Since then they have seen a number of players battle with injury. Shane Dowling, who scored a miraculous goal in the semi,is still battling back for full fitness, while David Breen and Peter Casey also struggling with knocks in recent times.

However, speaking at the Na Piarsaigh press evening, Adrian Breen provided a positive update on the squad ahead of the game saying,

“They’ve all pulled through that. All the boxes are ticked for us on that point of view, its just a matter of looking forward to the big day… (On Shane Dowling) He scored one of the best goals I’ve ever seen on a hurling pitch so there’s no fear of him!”

Despite the size of area, Na Piarsaigh as a community is a leading light in the GAA. With excellent facilities to match their community spirit, Breen is hoping he and his teammates can deliver a second All Ireland title this Saturday for all involved in the club.

“I’d like to think it brings a bit of pride to the community. It’s a large catchment area but, if you look at this team, you have brothers, cousins so its very tight knit in itself.”

“I think the way we play we represent our families and our friends. It’s more than just the players. We like to think that we represent the wider community and I’d like to think they are proud of us and what we are achieving.”

“So hopefully we can continue to do that and give them a performance to be proud of on the day.”

With so much on the line, much has been made of this titanic clash between undoubtedly the two best hurling clubs in the country over the last couple of years. With extra media duties for everyone involved, Breen is keen to keep a low profile and focus on the game with a simple final message.

“Focus on your own game, get inside a clear mind space and deliver from there.”
