First aired on October 16 2017, “Anthony Foley: Munsterman” was a poignant tribute to Axel, who represented all that is great about Munster rugby during his playing career and also as Head Coach of the Province. The 54 minute long documentary, which was co-produced by Limerick man Wesley Liddy, charts the life of Anthony Foley who ingrained himself into Munster folklore.
The documentary was released a year after the death of Anthony Foley and has been nominated for an IFTA at the awards ceremony which will take place on May 31 in the RDS.
The documentary opens with a chilling account of various broadcasters reaction the Killaloe’s man untimely death. There are contributions from Munster legends such as Paul O’Connel, Ronan O’Gara, Jerry Flannery, Peter O’Mahony and Simon Zebo among others. There are also insights from the Foley family as they come to terms with the tragic passing.
