LISTEN: Billy Lee wants his side to “take no backward step and take on” Mayo challenge

Billy Lee’s footballers face a huge task on Saturday with the visit of Mayo to the Gaelic Grounds in the first round of the qualifiers.

Last year’s All Ireland finalists were knocked out of the Connacht championship by Galway and will once again face a long and arduous road through the qualifiers while Limerick were below par in their Munster Championship opener against Clare.

The Newcastlewest native is relishing the challenge.

“This is why you play sport, everyone wants to be involved in the big games. We will have a lot of lads disappointed, who are not on the panel or not on the team and that gives you an indication of where their head are at. Everyone wants to be involved, everyone wants to have a crack.”
