Limerick’s Joy Neville makes history yet again

Limerick woman Joy Neville is no stranger to making history. She was part of the Irish Women’s team that famously won a Grand Slam in the 2013 Six Nations. Neville retired shortly after, having played for her country for 11 years, making 70 appearances in the process.

Not content with that, Neville moved into refereeing after her retiring. On the 20th of October 2016, she became the first female assistant in European Rugby during Bath’s defeat of Bristol.

Now she has been named Referee of the Year at the 2017 Munster Awards, in recognition of her continued success and accomplishments.

Neville will officiate later this year in the Women’s World Cup which takes place in Ireland from August 9-26.

From all at Sporting Limerick, we would like to congratulate Joy Neville on her achievements and wish her continued success.
