Munster continue their preparation for the upcoming season with a pre-season friendly against London Irish tonight in Irish Independent Park. This is van Graan’s first preseason in charge of the Province and he is hoping to build on the momentum of the previous two years by adding silverware to performances.
“Anyone can have a good week. We’re looking to have 30 to 40 very good weeks to hopefully put us in the position to play in play-offs at the end of the season. That’s all you can focus on is now and the season will take care of itself.”
Munster have made a number of noteworthy additions to their team in the off season. Irish internationals Tadgh Beirne and Joey Carberry have come on board and will add immense quslity to the side. One signing that has come in under the radar is AIL graduate Neil Cronin who has signed from Garryowen. The brother of Irish interational Sean, has been the Dooradoyle clubs standout player for a couple of seasons and van Graan is excited to work with Cronin.
“Otherwise why do club players play for. We signed Neily for a specific reason. He’s played quality rugby throughout the year for his club. He seems to have the attributes to play at the highest level.”
