Patrickswell, Ahane and Murroe-Boher taste victory in Limerick SHC

Three games were down for decision in the Credit Union Limerick Senior Hurling Championship on Friday with Patrickswell, Ahane and Murroe-Boher coming out on top.

In the marquee game of the evening, parish rivals Patrickswell and Ballybrown played off at Claughaun GAA Club on the Childers Road.

Patrickswell earned their second win of the campaign on a 1-20 to 2-12 scoreline. Peter Harty’s goal had Patrickswell on top in the early stages but Bryan Quinn’s superb strike saw Ballybrown reduce the ‘Well’s lead to three at the break.

Gary Kirby’s side continued to control the game in the second half, however, and managed to increase their lead as the contest progressed. Alan O’Connor’s goal from a free late on cut the final deficit to five points and Ballybrown remain without a point from three games.

Elsewhere in Group 2 of the SHC, Ahane were comfortable victors over bottom of the table Knockainey in Cappamore.

Led by All-Ireland winning brothers, Tom and Dan Morrissey, Ahane only led by one but pushed on in the second half to earn an 0-18 to 1-9 win. Knockainey’s goal coming from Padraic Barron.

Murroe-Boher had an easier than expected victory against Cappamore in Caherconlish. Last season’s Premier Intermediate Champions raced into a 1-9 to 0-3 advantage at the end of the first half and stretched that lead after the break to earn a 13 point victory.

Tonight in the Credit Union Senior Hurling Championship, Na Piarsaigh play Kilmallock in the Gaelic Grounds, Monaleen take on South Liberties at Childers Road, while Adare face Doon in Bruff. All games have a 6:30pm throw in.
