Limerick FC easily beaten by Shamrock Rovers

Limerick FC suffered a poor 5-0 defeat at the hands of Shamrock Rovers in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division on Friday night.  Goals from Ronan Finn (x2), Greg Bolger, Dylan Watts and Roberto Lopes ensured an easy victory for Stephen Bradley’s men.

Limerick fell behind inside two minutes as Finn rifled an effort into the back of the net as the ball broke to him on the edge of the box. Bolger added a second for Rovers with a superb strike into the top corner before Dylan Watts extended the lead to three after 20 minutes. Roberto Lopes added a fourth before half time to add to Limerick’s misery.

Tommy Barrett’s men will have to react quickly as they face a crucial game against Bray Wanderers in the Carlisle Grounds next week. A draw in that game should clinch a play off spot with four games remaining as the Shannonsiders are currently nine points ahead of the Seagulls.
