Mixed fortunes for Tournafulla and Kildimo Pallaskenry in Munster Championships

Tournafulla and Kildimo-Pallaskenry suffered contrasting fortunes in the Munster Junior Championships this weekend.

With home advantage Tournafulla booked their place in the last four of the Junior Hurling Championship with a 1-22 to 2-9 victory over Kilgarven of Kerry on Saturday afternoon. Cork’s Dromtarriffe overcame Kildimo-Pallaskenry 2-10 to 1-7 to end the Limerick sides Munster hopes in the football.

Tournafulla will now face Balimeena of Waterford in the semi final next weekend. Cloughduv of Cork will play Boherlann-Dualla (Tipperary) face off in the other semi-final.

Tournafulla had a healthy advantage at the break holding a 0-14 to 1-7 lead. Anthony Harnett was scorer-in-chief for the home side scoring 0-14 on the day.

Paudie Smith goaled for the Limerick side early in the second half to leave the score at 1-16 to 1-8, a lead they would never relinquish to secure their place in the last four.

Dromtarriffe went into the break with a 2-6 to 0-4 lead having registered 1-3 without reply before the half.

Darren O’Connell netted for KP with fifteen minutes remaining to reduce the deficit to seven, but the Cork side would run out winners.

Kildimo Pallaskenry would finish with 12 after having three men sent off in extra time.
