It was a fine day for trainer Eoghan O’Grady as his Westerner Point came in at 14/1 to clinch the feature Tim Duggan Memorial Handicap Steeplechase today at Limerick Racecourse.
Under the guidance of Phillip Enright, Westerner Point saw off competition from Kylecrue and Burgas to clinch the race.
The day started off with another win for Gordon Elliott and Gigginstown as Eclair De Beaufeu won the Goggin Buckley Maiden Hurdle.
Next up was a victory for Cool Saint, under Dylan Robinson, and trainer Henry De Bromhead ahead of Ifyoucatchmenow and Mag Brady.
There was then a local victory in the 1:30pm Woodlands House Hotel Handicap Hurdle for trainer Andrew McNamara with Still Alive at 11/1 seeing off competition from Miss Echrad and 9/2 fav All the Chimneys.
The JP Dempsey trained Routes Choice took home the Roches Feeds Handicap Hurdle at 33/1, with Glorious Galway and Smoking Gun winning the final two races of the afternoon’s action at 6/1 respectively.
