St Munchin’s bow out of Clayton Hotels Munster Schools Senior Cup in the first round

St Munchin’s have been knocked out of the Clayton Hotels Munster Schools Senior Cup after falling to a 36-5 defeat to Rockwell College at Musgrave Park.

Munchin’s were down 17-0 at the break and the same trend continued in the second half with Rockwell running in a couple of more tries to emphasise the comfortable win.

Rockwell got the scoring underway through a Tom Dowling try on five minutes and soon doubled that advantage when James O’Meara crossed for a score that was converted by John O’Sullivan.

The Tipperary school scored again before half time thanks to Jack Hunt and were in again early in the second half through Sam Tarleton. Harry Tobin went in for their fifth try in the closing stages.

Munchin’s got on the board through Keith Hyland but it was Rockwell that had the last laugh when Sean Cotter went in for the final try of the game. They now play PBC in the quarter finals.
