Limerick coach Kissane excited ahead of Championship clash.

Former Cork footballer and current part of Billy Lee’s coaching team with the Limerick footballers, Paudie Kissane is looking forward to Limerick’s clash with Clare this weekend.

Kissane who was involved with the Clare footballers in 2014 will be hoping that his inside information could be the difference as Limerick take on the Division 2 side.

”It does give me an inside track and I know Colm (Collins, Clare manager) and some of the players, which is a help but of course that works two ways and they would have the inside track on how I work.”

”I guess it adds to it a small bit but it’s not something that I really use to our advantage because it’s not a guarantee that because I worked with them before that I am definitely going to get the right result,”

”We are looking forward to the game which is the right way but at the same time we know it’s going to be a challenge – we are going to have to play right well to be competitive first of all and then we will see after that. I hate the word transition but there are obviously a lot of changes since last year. Last year’s result is irrelevant there have been so many changes,” he continued.

Clare are heavy favourites to advance to take on Kerry in the semi final in June but Kissane is confident that this new look Limerick side can pull off an upset.

“I think we are a young team that has made initial steps forward and there is more there and how long that will take who knows but we definitely need to improve come championship day against Clare.”

Limerick face Clare in Cusack Park, Ennis this Sunday at 3.30 pm.
