WATCH: Peter Nash “really looking forward” to Intermediate grade

For Kildimo/Pallaskenry, 2019 will bring a new challenge with the club operating at Intermediate level for the first time in its history.

After getting promotion to the Intermediate Premier grade in Hurling in 2017, the footballers followed suit winning the county Junior A championship last year against Cappamore.

For Limerick senior footballer, it is an extremely exciting time for the club as they prepare for the first round of games this weekend.

“Really looking forward to it. A nice new challenge. Its fresh, it’s new teams to play against and it’s games at this time of the year which everybody looks forward to.”

First up for Kildimo/Pallaskenry is Galtee Gaels who are also relatively new to the division having earned promotion in 2017.

Intercounty players, Tommy Childs and Seanie McGrath will earn much of the KP attention but Nash insists they have quality players across the park.

“We would have played them in county league finals a few years ago when we were both Junior A before they went up.

They will be very solid, very well drilled and they have a lot of very good players.”

With not much expected of the newly promoted side, Nash is looking forward to getting on the pitch and testing themselves in the second tier of Limerick football.

“It’s hard to know what to expect from any team but we are just looking forward to the challenge.
