WATCH: Lynch excited about returning to club action

2018 couldn’t have gone much better for Cian Lynch. Promotion from Division 1A was followed by a historic All-Ireland win in August.

This was followed by a first All-Star and subsequently the Patrickswell man was named as Hurler of the Year aged just 22.

However, the importance of the club to Lynch has always been clear and speaking ahead of this years championship, Lynch is relishing the opportunity to go back to his own club.

“I know its a cliché but going back to your club is special. Back to the lads you grew up with. It’s a great opportunity for lads to get a bit of form back.”

The spirit of the Limerick team has been noticeable in John Kiely’s tenure with the players allowed to express themselves both on and off the field.

As is the nature of the club championship however, these alliances will be put on hold as inter-county players go head-to-head, with Lynch saying friendship is forgotten about on the pitch.

“We’re all great friends, but once you enter through the white lines with the club jersey on, they’re is no allegiance.”
