While much talk in the build-up to Limerick’s clash with Kilkenny in this Saturday’s All-Ireland semi-final has been dedicated to how Limerick will cope with the four-week lay-off since their Munster final victory.
For Tom Morrissey however, the break was welcomed after a long league and Munster championship campaign.
“We had a long year last year, a long league campaign so it was nice to get the week off. So it’s only really been a three-week build-up to this game.”
“Just raring to go at this stage.”
Last summer these sides met in Thurles in the All-Ireland quarter-finals. In a topsy-turvey tie, Limerick eventually came out on top despite a late Kilkenny goal put them into the lead.
That victory was seen as a watershed moment for this Limerick team who would go on to capture the Liam MacCarthy title.
The momentum to come off the back of that win certainly did not go unnoticed for Morrissey who reflected on the result.
“That was a real defining moment for us. I suppose when Richie Hogan got that goal, it was a real test of us, facing adversity and it just showed the character that we have.”
