Ireland U20’s look ahead to Samoa game.
The Ireland U20’s head coach Peter Malone has named his Ireland Under-20 team for Tuesday’s World Rugby U-20 Championship 9th-12th place play-off against Samoa in Tbilisi.
The game will take place at Avchala Stadium in the Georgian capital (kick-off 1pm local time/10am Irish time), with live coverage on eir Sport 1.
Munster players Alan Tylan starts at full back, and Calvin Nash plays on the wing.
Jack Stafford will start at scrum-half.
Fineen Wycherley will start at second row and Gavin Coombes at flanker.
Manager Peter Malone knows that his side need to get a win if they want to be playing at this level next year after defeats to Italy, Scotland and a heavy loss to New Zealand last week.
At the Captain’s Run today in Tbilisi, Peter Malone said:
“Things didn’t go to plan in the pool stages (with three defeats), but now it is about digging deep and looking to get a result against Samoa.
“That’s not going to be easy as they caused problems for their opposition throughout their pool games and we know they’re going to be very physical. The players know what lies ahead tomorrow and they’re very focused, and really up for this game.”
