The 2019 EuroFootGolf Championships will take place at Magnolia Park in Oxford from September 27th – 29th
The tournament will see 16 countries battle it out for top spot including an Irish team who find themselves seeded 12th overall and in Pool D with Holland, Switzerland and Sweden.
The last EuroFootGolf event was held in 2017 in Paris where the hosts lost to Team UK in the Final
Footgolf combines soccer with golf, with players having to kick a ball into a hole in the fewest possible amount of shots on a given hole.
Part of the nine-strong Ireland team that will represent their country at the end of the month is John Callinan, the owner of Munster Footgolf, a dedicated FootGolf Course at Hurlers Cross in Shannon.
Speaking to Sporting Limerick this week, Callinan told us how he discovered the game of FootGolf, setting up his own Footgolf course and the rules of the sport.
Plus we hear about why the 2010 Adidas Jabulani is considered the “Top class” ball among FootGolf Athletes as well as John’s thoughts ahead of the tournament where he’ll once again get to represent Ireland only this time alongside his son as an added bonus.
