WATCH: Kevin O’Byrne on hard pre-season and long road back to Munster

Munster’s Pro 14 campaign kicks off this weekend as they welcome the Dragons to Thomond Park.

For Hooker Kevin O’Byrne the opportunity to play competitive rugby is long overdue after a strenuous pre-season.

“It seems to go on and on. In the early days we didn’t even have a rugby ball! It’s good to get back to competitive rugby.”

O’Byrne, who has competition in the form of Niall Scannell and Rhys Marshall spoke about the long journey that bought him from the Academy to Connacht, to Australia, to club Rugby back to the Senior set up

“I went to Australia for a year. Then I came back and went to college, played with Bohs.

I was two seasons out of Rugby when I came back in, played a few games. Axel’s first season was my first season.”
