Four Munster women named in Irish 7s squad for Colorado series

The Ireland Women’s 7s squad has been confirmed for the HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series 2020 in Glendale, Colorado.

13 Players have been named for the opening round of the series where they are drawn in Pool B.

They will get their campaign under way against France at 10.37am (local time)/ 5.37pm (Irish time), before facing USA and Brazil later in the day.

Munster players Amee Leigh Murphy Crowe, Louise Galvin, Emily Lane and Deirbhile Nic a Bhaird have all been selected.

The squad will be captained by Lucy Mulhall and includes Anna Doyle who is named for her first World Series trip. Anna who won her first cap in Kazan 2018 becomes the latest player from IRFU’s Women’s Development pathway to make her World Series debut.

Katie Fitzhenry makes a return to the squad, having missed out on most of last season following an injury.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Stan McDowell – Head Coach, said,

“Looking at what’s coming through this season from the player pathway, its an exciting time for the Women’s sevens game. There is some really good talent that we can continue to develop and strengthen our squad for the 2019-2020 World Series and beyond.

“We have been training out at our new High Performance Centre which has been a great facility for the players to train from and we are really looking forward to the series ahead.”

The following rounds will take place in Dubai, Cape Town, Hamilton, Sydney, Hong Kong and Paris.
