Monaleen all but booked their place in the knockout stages of the Limerick SFC with a hard fought 0-10 to 0-8 win over Na Piarsaigh on Friday evening.
The win maintains the champions perfect record in the championship this far and sees them remain top of group 1.
Ger Collins was instrumental for Monaleen with three points from play. This was coupled with Limerick minor hurler Alan Nicholas chipping in with three points of his own on his debut.
The sides found themselves evenly matched throughout with Monaleen playing for over 40 minutes with 14 men as Daniel Enright was sent off for an off the ball incident.
Na Piarsaigh led by one with seven minutes remaining but unanswered scores from Daniel Power and two from Evan Quinlan secured the win.
In the other group St Kierans had an impressive 2-9 to 1-7 win over St Patrick’s. The win moves St Kierans into second place on 4 points ahead of Ballylanders on points differential.
Ballylanders moved onto four points after overcoming Oola 1-10 to 1-08 on Friday evening. The other game in the group sees Newcastle West take on Ballysteen in the Bog Garden on Saturday evening at 7.30pm.
