‘Munsters’ v Garryowen pick of the bunch this AIL Weekend

In Division 1A this Friday evening will be the pick of the bunch for Limerick’s Senior Clubs when Young Munster and Garryowen lock horns under lights in a Limerick City derby at Tom Clifford Park.

Young Munster, who are second from bottom, will be looking to make the most of home advantage count in a bid to record their first win, following their 9-9 draw against UCD at Belfield. They have also claimed three losing bonus points from three narrow defeats. Garryowen meanwhile have climbed up to sixth following their 25-5 away win over bottom side Ballynahinch last weekend.

In Division 1B Shannon, who are fifth following their 34-14 away defeat by Banbridge, welcome City of Armagh, who are eighth following their 19-0 away win over Navan, to Thomond Park.

UL Bohemian entertain Nenagh Ormond in a bottom of the table clash in Division 2A. Ninth-placed ‘Bohs’ are seeking their first win of the campaign after having returned with their second losing bonus point from their narrow 24-21 defeat by Ballymena in County Antrim.

Meanwhile, their Limerick rivals Old Crescent, who are fifth, face a tough assignment as they welcome third-placed Queen’s University to Rosbrien, with both sides going into the tie on the back of home defeats against MU Barnhall and Cashel respectively.

The stand-out tie in Division 2C is the meeting of second-placed Bruff and third-placed Skerries at Kilballyowen Park, with both sides going into the tie on the back of home wins over Bangor and Midleton.
