Munster have recorded a 19-14 win on the road over Connacht in their first InterPro fixture over the Christmas period thanks to Man of the Match JJ Hanrahan.
The first half at the Sportsground was a fiery one back and forth from both teams.
Munster got their first try on the board after 25 minutes thanks to Jack O’Donoghue, while JJ Hanrahan kicked 11 points in the first half.
Connacht kept in touching distance before the halftime whistle thanks to their out-half Conor Fitzgerald, who converted his third penalty of the evening to make it 9-16 at the break.
Connacht were penalised early on in the second half leaving Hanrahan with a straight forward kick from the 22′ to put his side 19-9 ahead.
But once again, the green army struck back thanks to a try from substitute Jack Carty to make it 19-14 with 10 minutes on the clock.
It would prove to be too little too late for the home side as Munster ran out 19-14 winners to go top of Conference B in the Guinness Pro 14.
Up next for Johann van Graan’s side will be Leinster on December 28th at Thomond Park. The game is officially sold out and promises to be a hotly contested clash in Limerick.
