Earlier this week we asked the Limerick public to tell us what their favourite Limerick games of the past 20 years were.
From the list of games we were told we compiled a list of the Top 16 which will battle it out to be crowned the counties favourite game this century.
Our Top 16 Bracket was released on Saturday and can be seen here.
Our final Last-16 pairing is live now and can be voted on on our Twitter and Instagram pages!
This one sees the epic third game of the 2007 Limerick and Tipperary trilogy in the Munster Championship against Limerick’s 24-point win over Wexford in the 2014 All-Ireland quarter-final.
Limerick faced a Wexford side in Semple Stadium who were coming into the game after beating the reigning All-Ireland Champions Clare in the Qualifiers.
Limerick never let the Leinster side settle and first half goals from David Breen and Shane Dowling (x2) had the Treaty 3-15 to 0-8 ahead.
Paul Browne rounded off the goalscoring in the second half to give Limerick a 24-point win and a place against Kilkenny in the All-Ireland semi-final.
By the time 2007 had come around, Limerick had gone six years without a Munster championship win.
That looked set to continue against Tipperary in the Gaelic Grounds before a Pat Tobin goal sent the game to a replay in Semple Stadium.
Here, Limerick once again looked certain to exit again but a late Ollie Moran goal coupled with an Andrew O’Shaughnessy point meant the game finished level 1-19 apiece, the same score as the first game.
O’Shaughnessy sent the game to a second replay with a last minute 65′ with Limerick facing defeat yet again.
The third game was played out in front of a manic crowd in the Gaelic Grounds. 70 minutes wasn’t enough to seperate the sides in their third meeting that summer but the heroics of Ollie and NIall MOran in extra-time gave Limerick the win as they advanced to the Munster final.
