Treaty United Sides Finalise Season Preparations

Both Treaty United Senior and U-17’s sides continued their preparation for the beginning of the 2020 season with friendly games against Galway United on Monday at the University of Limerick.

The senior women’s side were on the wrong end of a 1-3 result against their Connacht counterparts. The game was finely poised at 0-0 at half time but Galway took the lead four minutes into the second period.

Gillian Keenan responded for Dave Rooney’s side to equalise but parity wasn’t restored for long as Galway re-took the lead and then just two minutes later doubled their advantage to seal the win. Treaty United open their campaign away to Peamount United this coming Saturday with a 6.30 kick-off.

Treaty United: Michaela Mitchell (Connolly), Eve O’Sullivan, Marie Curtin (C), Alannah Mitchell, Shannon Parbet, Maggie Duncliff, Laura Kavanagh (M Shine), Tara O’Gorman, Gillian Keenan, Ciara Griffin (A Shine), Aoife Horgan (Keane)

The U-17 side fared much better in their encounter and ended the day as 4-1 victors. A flurry of goals before half-time ensured that Irene Hehir’s women continued their good pre-season form this far.

Following a 4-2 victory over Athlone mid-week, Treaty fell behind on the half hour mark. However, Lauren Keane grabbed an equaliser three minutes before half-time.

Two quick-fire goals from Laoise O’Haodha and Aine Walsh sent Hehir’s troops 3-1 up before the break. O’Haodha added another goal to seal the win on the hour mark and cap off a great week for the team.
