Hurling star Paul Carey to be buried in Limerick this weekend

Former Limerick hurler Paul Carey will be buried in his hometown of Patrickswell this Saturday after he passed away tragically in a road traffic accident in Dubai last weekend.

Carey, represented Limerick at both underage and senior levels and was working in Dubai as an English teacher prior to his passing.

He is a brother to Limerick legend Ciaran Carey and uncle to current star and 2018 Hurler of the Year Cian Lynch.

His funeral mass will take place on Saturday at 11.30pm in the Church of the Blessed Virgin, Patrickswell.

The mass will remain private in line with Covid-19 regulations with the burial to take place immediately afterwards in St Mary’s new cemetery.

The family have asked that instead of flowers being sent, donations can be made to the Kevin Bell repatriation Trust.

Paul is one of ten children and captained the Patrickswell Senior team to the Limerick Senior Hurling title in 2003.
