Munster’s Jean Kleyn Hit With Two Week Ban Following Leinster Clash

Munster second row Jean Kleyn will serve a two-week ban after being cited for foul play against Leinster last weekend. The suspension will see Kleyn out of action until the 21st of February.

The 27 year-old was punished under Law 9.20 (b): “Dangerous play in a ruck or maul — A player must not make contact with an opponent above the line of the shoulders.”

Judicial Officer, Simon Thomas (WRU) found that the actions of Kleyn merited a mid-range entry point, which indicates a four-week suspension.

However, mitigating factors including Kleyn’s timely remorse, acceptance of foul play and previously clean disciplinary record saw the ban reduced to just two weeks.
