QUIZ: Can you name the players that started Limerick’s last MFC win over Cork in 2003

Limerick take on Cork in the Munster football semi-final this Saturday seeking a first win over the Rebels since 2003.

In what may seem a lifetime ago now, Limerick footballers had a historic day eighteen years ago when they defeated Cork 0-16 to 0-6 in the Munster Football Championship Quarter-final.

The two sides meet again this Saturday in Munster semi-final action in the LIT Gaelic Grounds and Billy Lee’s side will be hoping for a similar joyous day come the end of the game this weekend.

Liam Kearns men put on a masterclass as they set a high pace throughout the game to record a memorable win over the Rebels in Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

Cork had not been beaten by Limerick up to that point since 1965, that day will live long in the memory for Limerick players, coaches and fans.

The composed display from Limerick was a surprise to most within the GAA community, none more so than the people within the Treaty county.

Cork were held by a tenacious Limerick side that showed hunger and determination to finally beat their long time Munster rivals and succeeded with a ten-point victory. Limerick held Cork to just two points from play.

This weekends provincial semi-final will start at 3pm and will be televised via GAAGO. The game will now have a maximum attendance of 3,500.

Today we want to test your knowledge and see how many players from the historic day you can recall.
