Limerick were full value for a 3-11 to 0-12 winners over Clare tonight in the Munster Minor semi-final in Cusack Park.
Kevin Denihan’s side powerful second quarter proved the difference as they outscored their opponents 1-7 to 0-2.
Darragh Murray, Ronan Quirke and Emmet Rigter provided the Limerick goals on the night as they move into a first Munster Minor final since 1998.
Clare had the first three scores of the game before Lorcan Murphy got the visitors off the mark just prior to the waterbreak.
Scores from Murray and Jack Somers handed Limerick their first lead after 20 minute, with a penalty from Murray giving Limerick a cushion.
At the half the lead was out to 1-8 to 0-5 in Limerick’s favour.
Clare kicked the first two scores of the second half before Limerick replied with a brace of their own.
The Banner reduced the deficit to five before Quirke fired in Limerick’s second goal of the day to give the Shannonsiders a 2-10 to 0-8 lead at the final waterbreak.
With Clare probing for a desperately needed goal, Limerick got their third as Emmet Rigter waltzed through the Banner defence to put the tie to bed.
Limerick take on Cork in the final in a neutral venue on August 11 after the Rebels defeated Kerry 1-15 to 1-14 in Pairc Ui Chaoimh, ending Kerry’s run of eight successive titles.
