WATCH: Munster Defeat Chiefs in Final Pre-Season Clash

All 31-players were involved in Munster’s 31-17 win over Exeter Chiefs in Sandy Park last Saturday.

The game’s opening 10 minutes was tame, until Exeter hooker Jack Innard opened the scoring the game’s first try. However it wasn’t long before munster responded with a try of their own in the firm of Rory Scannell, who was at the end of an impressive set piece off a Munster line-out.

Both sides exchanged tries as Munster winger Calvin Nash got his first score of the day, galloping over the Exeter line from 15 meters out to bring the sides level 12 points a piece going into half time.

The second half got underway with a number of replacements introduced by both sides. The second half remained scoreless until Munster found their feet in the 54th minute, a skilful interchange between Ben Healy and Nash saw academy back-row Cian Hurley crash over the Exeter line to earn Munster the lead.

Munster didn’t enjoy their lead for long however, as an attacking Exeter maul saw Rus Tuima go over for the Chiefs along with a conversion from Joe Simmonds to put Exeter in front.

Despite the rapid blow from Exeter, it was Munster who wrestled back control. A shapeless pass from Exeter full-back Josh Hodge created opportunity for Munster’s Ronan Salanoa to power over for a Munster try, and for the lead once again.

An array of handling errors from the home side in the games final ten minutes gave way for Munster to seal the win. Calvin Nash bolted over for his second try of the game following an error on behalf of Exeter, the conversion from Jack Crowley established the full time score of 31-17 and the win for Munster as the game entered its final few minutes.

Munster will play their United Rugby Championship opener against South African side The Sharks at Thomond Park in two weeks.
