HIGHLIGHTS | Monagea claim a third ever senior title as they defeat Ballylanders in Ladies Football final

Monagea avenged the defeats of 2019 and 2020 to secure a third ever title in the TUS Gaelic Grounds yesterday.

A strong third quarter proved the difference for the West side who claimed a first title since defeating the same opponents in the 2018 final

Kirsty Carroll opened the scoring for Ballylanders has she kicked three first half frees. But scores from player of the match Deborah Murphy, Catriona Davis and Ella Whelan (2) gave Monagea the half time lead.

Carroll levelled shortly after the half, but three on the bounce from Monagea gave them daylight for the first time in the match as Murphy and Davis added to the scoresheet.

Laoise Browne wiped out that lead grabbing the games first goal but Karen O’Leary duly replied with a three pointer to restore Monagea’s advantage heading into the final quarter.

From here, Monagea were able to keep their opponents at arms length, eventually running out 1-9 to 1-6 winners as they now enter the Munster championship.
