FAI Junior Cup champions Fairview Rangers have announced a friendly game with Airtricity League Premier Division champions Shamrock Rovers to open up the club’s new grounds and officially turn on the floodlights. The game will take place on Saturday January 15th at 4.15pm at the Fairgreen.
The club have undertaken superb work in recent months in installing new floodlights and renovating the club stand which now features a roofed seating area for spectators. New dugouts for both home and away sides were also erected and the club hope to showcase the facilities on the night.
Fairview released ticket sales before Christmas and with limited tickets available due to Covid restrictions, they have urged anyone interested to contact the club committee members immediately.
The game will form part of Shamrock Rovers pre-season campaign with the League of Ireland champions looking to win their third league title in a row.
Three former Limerick FC players could be playing on the night with Rory Gaffney, Aaron Greene and Barry Cotter all forming part of Stephen Bradley’s squad. Bradley himself has great memories of his time with Limerick, winning the 2012 First Division title under Pat Scully. Irish international Jack Byrne is also part of the squad but it remains to be seen just who Bradley selected for the game.
