Treaty United have announced Don O’Riordan as the manager of the senior women’s side ahead of the 2022 season. The former Galway United and Sligo Rovers senior men’s manager will replace Niall Connolly who departed in October following a poor run of results.
O’Riordan is a vastly experienced manager at League of Ireland level having led Galway United to promotion in 1999 and managed Sligo Rovers at Premier Division level. He will be hoping to make an immediate impact in Limerick as his new side finished bottom of the Airtricity Women’s National League in 2021.
His association with women’s football began in 2008 and he has held positions with the South African women’s and China women’s team since then. He worked as an advisor for Beijing Baxy in China and has had involvement with Galway Women’s Football Club.
A statement from Treaty United welcomed O’Riordan to the club on social media:
“Treaty Utd are delighted to announce Don O’Riordan as the club’s new manager of the Senior Women’s National League Team. Don, one of the most experienced coaches in Ireland will join the club with immediate effect and we wish him well for 2022!”
